Literally voted best Zoo in the world. If you've come a long way, you ought to see it while you're here.
A larger local pumpkin patch with a legendary history.
Our first date, anniversaries, lunch before our engagement, dinner on our wedding day...You could say we really like this place. We highly recommend the Monster-Ella Sticks to start, and Bananas Foster for dessert. Jesse likes the The Cajun Combo. Samatha likes the Seafood Eggplant Pirogue. Fun Fact: One of the bride's favorite bars, The Starlight Lounge, is in the basement of this restaurant. Samatha always orders at least one Bogart martini each visit to this amazing bar.
A favorite for date night and birthdays. The Monster Cheese Burger is very popular and so are the Brussel sprout SIDE DISH (the appetizer is different, still good, but different from the side). You can't beat the service and the entertainment, Might be best to call in a reservation for a good spot.
Any of the Cultiva locations are wonderful for coffee and crepes. Please note: The Lab doesn't have food only beverages and chocolate bars! Samatha likes the Ranch Hand add Artichokes and Spinach with a hot Chai Latte. Jesse likes the Princess Crepe or Blueberry Crunch Johnny Cakes with a Mocha Latte.
Local university's ice cream parlor. Delicious and fresh and some creative flavors. Samatha's favorite is the seasonal Sweet Corn. Jesse likes everything with candy bar elements, he's always trying new things.
Lincoln staple for good and eclectic ice cream.
If you can find it, its worth every minute and cent. We love spending time here and taking friends and family to this old school speakeasy. The menu is seasonal and they use fresh ingredients. Green means good to go! ;)
Cute Brunch place close by where Jesse proposed. Samatha recommends the french toast. A little pricey but it's an experience.
The park where Jesse proposed. Beautiful inner-city park with many trails and fountains. On the north end there's an awesome playground and some educational fun exhibits. We recommend the drums!
The garden some of our engagement photos were taken. Beautiful authentic depression era sunken garden, be sure to check out the many signs around the park with interesting historical tidbits. Across the street is the Rose Garden and Fountains, by the Lincoln Children's Zoo.
Great for kids and kids at heart!
Great fun for the kiddos, lots of photo ops for the parents, and much jealousy about not being able to frolic in the awesome exhibits. Check for admission prices on their site.
Free museum with many fascinating rotating events. Great for families and friends alike.
Beautiful building with historical context and stellar views of Lincoln. Free admission and tours. Fun Fact: The Nebraska Capitol building is known as the "Phallus of the Plains." One look and we're sure you'll understand.
Another great spot for local eats and a seasonal rotating menu. Samatha is crazy about their Sweet Corn soup.
It's delicious! Jesse recommends the Enchiladas La Paz, Samatha likes the Jalapeno Raspberry Margarita and the Chicken and cheese stuffed chili relleno.
Pro Tip: Get the Pulled Pork Nachos. The "small" feeds 1 hungry adult as a main course, proceed with caution.
Local delicious burgers. Rotating menu, various star burgers at various locations in town. check the website for what you're craving.
Good burgers, GREAT dessert. The blueberry flapjack cake is OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD.
A lovely small pumpkin patch for all ages during the day, night time is Scary farm for the older crowd.
Historical and educational fun. Good time for kids and adults. Nice place to let the kids run off some pent up energy.
Great brewery in Beatrice.
Another locale to wet your whistle. For the wine lover, but they have local brews on tap too.
Replica of a historic popcorn stand that was open from 1937-1987. The original stand was donated to the Gage County Historical Society and is housed in their west building near the museum.
