Pikes Peak Cog Railway Station

Pikes Peak Cog Railway Station

515 Ruxton Ave, Manitou Springs, CO 80829

Want to get up close and personal with the mountains but stay warm and relax on the way? Ride the Cog Railway all the way to the top of Pikes Peak, one of Colorado's 14ers! (mountains over 14,000 ft above sea level). A brand new visitor center at the mountain summit is set to complete construction September 2022.

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area

28194 U.S. 6, Dillon, CO 80435
, (970) 468-0718

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area (or A-Basin) has the benefit of being only an hour and eighteen minutes from Littleton, CO and gives amazing views of the Front Range while you hit the slopes! It's not a major resort so it has a smaller, more local feel without sacrificing ski quality. With base of the area set at 10,520 ft and the ski summit at 13,050, we recommend this for skiing or snowboarding if you have a couple days to acclimate to the higher altitude first!

Denver Biscuit Company- Broadway

Denver Biscuit Company- Broadway

141 South Broadway, Denver, CO 80209
, (303) 377-7900

I have not stopped thinking about these breakfast sandwiches ever since Caitlyn and I discovered this spot while travel nursing in Denver in 2016. Now Tony and I make a point to stop whenever we come back to town! The Ellsworth has traditionally been my personal favorite (pictured above) but you can't go wrong with anything on this amazing menu. If you have the time and are sticking around the area, this is my #1 breakfast spot! We aren't the only ones who love this food so expect a little bit of wait if you plan on going =) There are also multiple locations around Denver and 1 in Colorado Springs as well.

Looking for a scenic drive? Driving Route 6 between Golden and Idaho Springs is stunning and gives beautiful views of Clear Creek Canyon! It's one of my favorite drives in the Front Range. Plus there's many spots to stop and hike along the way if the weather allows for it! I only recommend this if the roads are clear and it's not icy. Driving in the canyon can be dangerous otherwise. Idaho Springs and Golden are two old frontier-type towns that are fun to explore either way! They both have historic downtown areas with shops to walk and browse. Golden has the Coors Brewery tour as well (reservations are now required after COVID, book in advance). Still want to visit Idaho Springs, but the weather is crummy? Take I 70 out! You shouldn't have any problems there!

Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Red Rocks Amphitheatre

CO 81401

Come visit the most scenic music venue in the United States! Really though, it won the award so many times they changed the name to the "Red Rocks Award" and took it out of the running to give other people a chance. There's hiking trails all around the property and you'll likely find people getting a work out in on the amphitheatre stairs with a view of Denver!

Garden of the Gods Road

Garden of the Gods Road, Colorado Springs, CO

Another easy hike featuring red rocks in Colorado Springs. This is a fan favorite for out of towners and was on my "must do" list as a travel nurse in the area.

For all the days along the way
