It all started with a Nicholas Cage mask. A modern day romance, Kody was busy swiping left when a picture of Sam rocking a mask covered in tiny Nick Cage faces (given to her as a joke) caught his eye. He swiped right and on their first date Sam led with a truly great first line of ‘geez you’re tall’. Nevertheless Kody asked if he could take her on a second date. Their second date was quite the adventure at Applebees, which ended with them chatting in the parking lot when a man started peeing next to them! A hurried first kiss had Sam texting, ‘I promise I kiss way better than that!!’ Lucky for Kody, Sam didn’t realize where Emporia was (almost 100 miles away!) and by the time she figured it out she knew she had someone special. Their early dates were a lot of restaurants and walks (not wanting the date to be over) until Kody, while stammering and sweating profusely, stated, ‘ I want to call you my girlfriend but you don’t have to call me your boyfriend…unless you want to…but if you don’t that’s ok too…’ After 6 months of dating, Kody introduced Sam to Hayden and Logan (The Dudes) who gave their approval after a lunch of burgers and playing video games. They’ve even let Sam pronounce herself the President of the Dudes’ Club and taught her more than she ever thought she’d know about RC cars and dirt bikes. After a not so sneaky conversation with her parents, and with Gus’ approval, after a year of dating Kody asked Sam to marry him.
