Keith was down in Savannah, Ga visiting his friend Josh and his family for the 4th of July. Also at Josh's house was his old friend Jackie and her family. While having dinner one night, Keith mentioned he was going over to Southaven, MS for a day trip to go check out a BBQ place which Jackie lives in that area. Jackie let Keith know she knew a lady who too lived there and that he should meet. That lady happen to be Samantha. Jackie reached out to Sam asking her if she would be interested in giving out her number. Sam agreed. Keith invited Sam to join him so they could meet and have lunch together. While the plan was to just have lunch, they decided to go to Graceland as it was a good place to go hangout and talk more since lunch went well. After visiting Graceland, they ended up going to the movies to see Elvis as the movie just came out and felt it was fitting after being at the house. After all that, Keith made the 3 1/2 hour drive back home to Huntsville and didn't get home until 1a. Clearly the late night drive was worth it and we are here now to see these two get married!
Where the proposal took place, it was not the original location. After Keith got the blessing from Sam's parents, Keith got with Sam's sister Rebekah to plan. The original plan was to do it on a dock down in Fulton, MS where Rebekah asked Keith to go down and check it out. With it being on the river and the setting just right, he realized it would be perfect and that would be the spot. With the date set, Rebekah went ahead with the planning. From the first weekend that Keith and Sam met, they did not spend a single weekend apart since they lived 3 hours apart and only got to see each other on weekends. The plan that Rebekah came up with to break Sam away was that their family was going to go to the river and do a "family photo." Colors were set with red being the main color because it is Keith's favorite with green being in the mix since it was December. When Sam knew of the colors, she wanted to wear green. Keith tried multiple times trying to persuade Sam to wear red while she kept refusing. The weekend before the proposal, Keith and Sam were at the mall looking around. As they were in a clothing store, Keith found a shirt that he wanted to try on as he needed a shirt for the proposal. When he came out of the dressing room, he saw Sam across the store and she was holding up a red shirt checking it out. Keith ran over to her before she put it away and convinced her that should be the shirt for the "photo." She agreed and got it. A few days before the proposal, Rebekah reached out to Keith about the weather. It was scheduled to storm all week in the area and it was best that they find a new spot. In Sam's hometown of Iuka, MS, there is this old Antebellum home that was built in 1859 called the Painted Lady that Rebekah suggested. After agreeing on that, plans were changed. Keith flew his parents in from Las Vegas so they could meet Sam and her family and be there for this special occasion. Keith and his parents arrived to the house early so Keith could get set up. When it was announced that Sam arrived, Keith made his way down to the gazebo. Side note. While Keith was standing down in the gazebo, he started to get a few text messages from Sam as she was sharing photos of the house. Little did she know he was standing outside waiting for her.
