I remember hearing from our mutual friend, "you have to meet this guy, y'all would be perfect for each other." Our first date was at Lakeshore Park, where we went swimming. We flirted and laughed till our cheeks hurt. We both felt a connection neither of us had felt before. Fast forward two weeks later, we went to our mutual friend sisters' wedding. I caught the bouquet and Josh caught the garter. I guess you could call it fate but we already knew we had something special.
Our location of where we "fell in love" is at my barn. Well before our high school graduation, me and Josh went to go feed the horses. Upon arrival to the barn, I noticed that my pony (the pony Josh gave me), had flooded the barn by breaking the water faucet to the water hose. Note: it was the 4th time she had flooded the barn that year. I was so mad at that pony for flooding the barn, again. Josh kept saying, "this is no reason to be mad, just laugh about it." Well he already knew what he had planned. Haha. I was finishing up with the horses and Josh started playing our song, "That's how I know you love me" by Justin Moore. He picked me up and we slow danced, soaking up just how much we loved each other. At the end of the song he gave me my promise ring, followed by his reasoning for giving me this ring, and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. It was a perfect moment. One I will never forget.
Our "plans" for this day were to get dressed and go on a date then come home to take some cute pictures. A few days before, Josh had started cleaning the barn. I was going to ask him why he was cleaning the barn but I figured he would stop cleaning it if I had asked him so I chose to just let him do it. Haha. The day of the proposal, I got dressed and tried to figure our what I was going to wear for our "cute pictures." We drove to Iron Horse Grill and ate some good food. Josh drank a "walk me down" within the first 30 minutes of getting there. He was pretty lit, which is very unlike him. Normally, he does the driving and I do the drinking. Then he orders a beer, in which I took from him and drank for myself. I literally sat there thinking "that's odd." I thought I was going to have to call my mom to come pick us up. Haha. After dinner we drove home and he played every love song you can think of. We sang our little hearts out. Before pulling in the driveway, I told him "pull over to the house so I can tinkle before pictures." He said, "okay, I will meet you over at the barn, cause your mom is already over there with her camera." As I was walking to the barn, I was talking to my horses (in my baby voice), still clueless as to what was about to happen. I walked around the corner, and there Josh was. The aisle of the barn was lit with candles in lanterns and rose petals on the floor. A sign read "Sam & Josh est. 2014." Tears immediately filled my eyes. It was the best day of my life. He gave the sweetest speech and my eyes never left his. He called Bella over who was wearing a sign saying "Will you marry my dad?" and got down on one knee. I said yes of coarse. Then he called Dixie and Chance over who also had signs around their neck. My entire family came walking out of the stalls smiling. It was picture perfect. He did absolutely amazing on planning this day. I never knew he had it in him. How he managed to keep this day a secret for 3 weeks, I will never know. ;)
