Finally celebrating!!!

I met Jeremy a couple years ago at a bonfire and thought there was something about him but didnt cross my mind that he was my future husband. Fast forward a couple years and we offically met at a Greater things( young adult bible study) and chatted as friends in April 2019. Now at this time of my life i had prayed to God asking me not to be attracted to anyone unless he was the one. Sunday- May 5th we both went to a Cinco De Mayo party at YA and chatted, and talked about my indepence and found out we only lived a mile away from each other. He casually said “ if you need anything just give me a call” that went completely over my head (bc i didnt have his number) Friday May 10th we went to a Greater things event and my heart burst as soon as i laid eyes on him. Talked briefly but i had to leave early due to babysittting my niece. Saturday May 11th was our good friend Eli’s birthday party. When Jeremy got there, he came and sat right by me. We talked and i told him about Modern Cone. He had never heard about it so i pulled thier page up on Instagram and handed him my phone. After he looked at all the yummy ice cream pics he went and looked himself up and followed his page, handed the phone back and said “ there ya go”. He followed me back within the hour and we chatted on and off. I stayed super late and helped Shelbie clean up where she meantioned to me that Jeremys best friend Lincoln said something to her like “ hey Jeremy and Sam?”. Here i didnt even think i had a shot with this super cute and sweet man and he might be crushing on me. I then saw that he left his save the date for Shelbie and Eli’s wedding. So i took a picture of it and sent it to him on instagram, giving him a hard time about leaving it( like he said he would) The next day he responded and we kept talking and exchanged numbers. Tuesday May 15th we went on our first date and drove up and down Jefferson, asking questions and learning about each other.

The first time I remember meeting samantha was at a young adult group at my friend Lincoln’s house. I had gone skateboarding right before the Bible study so I smelled a little bit but tried to act like it didn’t matter. I remember she was wearing a grey vest and a hoodie( blue I think) with a red hat and some leggings. I though she seemed kinda cute and so I wanted to try and talk to her without it being obvious that I was interested. So we sat across the room during our bible study and I would subtly glance across the room and look at her. I remember trying to act like it wasn’t anything while in my head thinking a lot about what I was doing. After the Bible study part was over everyone just hung out and played some games. So I talked to my friends a bit and the. Tried to make my way around where she was. We ended up playing uno and I was standing across from her. I don’t remember why. It someone moved who was sitting next to her in a chair so I quickly made my move to sit there. Meanwhile my friend Jordan, also standing at the time, caught me for the chair but I ended up winning. It gave me the opportunity to sit next to her and talk during the game without anything seeming weird because we were in a group playing cards. I don’t remember what else happened but she decided to leave with her friends and I realized one of her friends, Whitney, had forgotten her water bottle. So I quickly grabbed it and ran outside with the hopes of seeing sam again but they were already gone. Later we would see each other a few more times before exchanging numbers and starting our relationship that would turn into a love for one another I’ve always wished for.

He had told me earlier in the week that his mom had gotten Red Wings tickets from work and that we were going! I immeditely asked why his dad wasnt going. As he is a huge fan as well. He told he that they already had plans and couldnt go. 2 days before he said that we should go to the riverwalk before bc he really hasnt been there in a while. I guess i was kinda on to him and thought in my mind if he were to propose there that would be absolutly perfect because i love the water. Fast forward to the day we went to church and his dad was sooo excited to see me and gave me a huge hug, Plus then saying how they werent doing much that day but going on the motorcycle and hanging out. ( a flag in my brain) On our way down the riverwalk he was just looking stuff up and didnt seemed planned, just more spontanious so i didnt think it was gonna happen. But he was talking a lot and seemed a little nervous. So i still didnt know for sure. I then saw him texting a bunch and said he was talking to a friend i know he doesnt talk much to. So my suspisions were back. Everywhere we stopped i kept my eye out for my cousin Rachel We were walking and talking towards our last stop, I saw a shirt that kinda looked like our friend Eli’s. But didnt think anything of it. We got closer to the lighthouse and saw a sign and it started with a W. I thought oh it could happen. We came closer and i saw the sign and sunflowers ( my favorite flower) he said to me “ oh it looks like someone is getting engaged or got engaged already” and i said “ oh really? With my favorite flower?” Then he pulled me in the cicle of flowers and proposed

So.... my original plan for this was to pay and have a message at a red wings game read, Samantha schuchmann will you marry me? Before I was getting everything in order to do so me and my family and Samantha went to Disney on ice. I made the Grave mistake of leaving the form to sign for the red wings up on my internet browser, and when I opened it to show her something, she caught a glimpse. So then I found out that she didn’t want that kind of thing because you couldn’t hear each other and it wasn’t too intimate. So I called an audible and changed things. I still wanted to take her to a red wings game( because she loves them) so I bought tickets and talked with my friend Eli and Shelbie on what to do. We came up with the idea to surprise her on the RiverWalk before the game asking her to marry me and then go to the game. So the next step was to ask Rachel( sams cousin) to take pictures of us for the engagement. It took me a second to get her number but she agreed to help and was able to make it. So I found great tickets online and it was all set. So my plan was to try and distract her with just saying let go walk downtown before the game .

God blessed us with a 50-60 degree sunny day so it worked out perfectly. So we headed downtown after church with in my brain to propose around 3:00. Also in my head is “ okay she is gonna be suspicious the whole time so I gotta do my best to be calm and just act like I don’t know what I’m doing. Truthfully the first few spots we went on the RiverWalk I didn’t know about them. Me and Eli has scoped our the proposal spot a few days earlier so I knew I needed to end up there around three. So we would hope out and walk around at a few parks and I would look at my phone to find them even though I knew the last one was where to go. So we went to the final destination but couldn’t go to the spot yet because we were too early. So as we walked I looked across the road and boat docks and saw Eli and then grabbed Sam and tried to talk and walk fast away from them before it was ready. We checked out the Aretha, which is right next to the lighthouse/proposal spot. So then we started to walk back and I was like “ let’s go look at the lighthouse” as we got closer I got super nervous. My legs felt week and my hands got real sweaty and I was hoping she wasn’t catching on. So there was a sign that said will you marry me and flowers all around it in the ground and I said “hey someone’s getting married today, or got married today” trying to throw her off and as we got closer and closer we finally made it and I held her hand and took one knee. And idk what I said because I was so nervous but I grabbed the ring and asked Samantha to be my wife. As I did this I saw Rachel come from out of nowhere to take pics and Eli and Shelbie came around the corner as well. We took pictures and said thank you and then as we went back started the phone calls which lasted until we went to the game. We had third row tickets for the best game I’ve ever been too with not only my Fiancé next to me, but a win in a shootout.
