Norwood appears to love its breakfast, with over 11 restaurants within a 5 mile radius of our venue. Try Sunrise Breakfast, The Mug N Muffin, Brookside Cafe, Westbury Farms Family Restaurant, or Murph's Place to get your Saturday started off right. Don't forget to meet us newlyweds at Zachariah's in the lobby of the Four Points Sunday morning for a final breakfast farewell (breakfast starts at 6:30 am, but we will be down at 8:30 am- so sorry early birds- we are some form of exhausted mid-morning city pigeons).
Free to the public, and an 11-minute drive from our venue, Bird Park boasts over 3 miles of meandering pathways adorned with groves of trees, open fields, and stone bridges. Start your morning with a relaxing stroll through the space where we'll be doing our First Look in the late afternoon. No peeking!
Explore a local beer company located right in Norwood and distributed throughout the city of Boston! Started in 2011, this company has year-round favorites and rotating/limited edition beers. Take a tour, try a tasting, sit back and relax and find some pints you'd like to take home with you. Taproom is open 11am-11pm. Castle Island features a Boru BBQ 'pop-up' starting at 1 pm on Saturday, May 25th.
Brand new, but here to stay- Trillium Brewery was started in 2013 by a couple with the concept of staying true to a 'New England' Brewery- sourcing ingredients locally whenever possible. It has expanded to three locations in a few short years but was started in our back yard- South Boston. Enjoy a tasting, a tour of their 16,000 square foot Canton location, or enjoy an afternoon relaxing on the patio. An 11 am Bacon Truck Pop Up is coming on Saturday May 25th, when doors open, which could be a great way to get our wedding party started!
Take advantage of the holiday weekend and visit the Boston Common, where every year for Memorial Day the Massachusetts Military Heroes organization plants an astounding "Garden of Flags" to honor those who have given their lives to protect our freedom since the Revolutionary War. With over 37,000 flags on display, it is an awesome sight. If you're feeling ambitious, start your day bright and early and walk a bit of the Freedom Trail and learn about the start of the American Revolution. Tours start at 10 am and can be researched at: https://www.thefreedomtrail.org/ Anyone planning a day in Boston, and not wanting to drive, we recommend taking the MBTA commuter rail Franklin line inbound from Norwood Depot or Norwood Central into Back Bay or South Station, about a 30 minute ride. Parking available at both stations (Depot & Central-$2 on weekends). See: https://www.mbta.com/schedules/commuter-rail
Go ahead, you know you want to! Dive into Boston's most famous city tour- The Boston Duck tour. Board a WWII DUCK (amphibious landing vehicle) at any of the tours starting locations, and enjoy a fun, interactive, water-land tour of the must-see landmarks. We've all done one, and we'll probably all do one again, and enjoy ourselves along the way! You're sure to see some of Boston's Finest en route- some of whom you may see again Saturday night! :D (Fun Fact: The Duck Tour boats in their off-time are housed two streets over from our house in Dorchester). Anyone planning a day in Boston, and not wanting to drive, we recommend taking the MBTA Franklin line inbound from Norwood Depot or Norwood Central into Back Bay or South Station, about a 30 minute ride. Parking available at both stations (Depot & Central-$2 on weekends). See: https://www.mbta.com/schedules/commuter-rail
For some outdoor shopping or a multitude of lunch options all in one place, visit Legacy Place in the neighboring town of Dedham. A 12-minute drive from our venue, this shopping plaza includes some of our favorites: L.L. Bean, Lululemon, & Vineyard Vines. It has numerous sit down restaurants as well as a number of quick grab-and-go options that we love including: Shake Shack, Sweetgreen, and Whole Foods (yes... we eat a number of meals from Whole Foods salad/hot foods bar- no shame!). Be careful, in nice weather, this parking lot has the ability to fill up! Car pool whenever possible.
A short, 15-20 minute drive away from our venue, visit the home of the New England Patriots, Gillette Stadium. Visit the shops and restaurants surrounding the stadium or check out the Patriot's Hall of Fame- an interactive museum dedicated to the best moments in Pats sports history. Museum opens at 10 am on Saturdays.
