Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore was named the "Most Beautiful Place in America" on ABC's Good Morning America. This national park includes a 35-mile stretch of beach on Lake Michigan for swimming plus 13 hiking trails.
The 7.4 mile drive loops through the Beech-Maple forest and sand dunes and provides insight to the history of the area, a sampling of the vegetative communities found within the park and, best of all, spectacular overlooks of the Glen Lakes, the Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Lake Michigan. You can take a dune hike along the Cottonwood Trail or stop for a picnic at one of the picnic areas on the drive.
Seriously delicious asian-style food with lots of options!
Who knew mead was so delicious? We didn't before we tried St. Ambrose! Samantha's dad Dave has played a handful of live shows at this venue, and we adore the atmosphere! (but, mostly the mead)
Oh my goodness, this artisanal chocolate shop is one of our favorites! When guests come up to stay we like to take them for a hike near the Empire Bluffs, and then bring them here for some delicious chocolate!
A gorgeous scenic trail!
One of our favorite (most frequented) coffee shops only 2 minutes away from our house, try Samantha's favorite oat milk honey latte, or Emilio's favorite cappuccino. If you mention Emilio's name anyone who works there will know who you're talking about!
Our #1 favorite restaurant, their salsa selection is to die for!
This ice cream is an absolute must-try, we're obsessed!
If you're a book worm like Samantha, or just love the atmosphere of book stores like Emilio, you will fall in love with this inviting little shop!
We really love tea, a lot, so we really love Light of Day teas! Their storefront on their tea farm is worth checking out. Light of Day Organic Farm & Tea Shop is Michigan's only certified Demeter Biodynamic Farm & the only commercial grower of certified organic teas in North America!
To kick off our following list of wineries we started with our favorite! Driving up Old Mission Peninsula is a treat in itself with the breathtaking views, but stopping at wineries along the way and sampling a selection of wine is how many tourists and locals spend their weekends!
