I remember turning around in an IT helpline on our first day at Anheuser-Busch; "Hi, I'm Samantha from MST!". The face behind me smiled and responded, "I'm Dustin! I go to S&T too." Here we were, looking to meet people far and wide, yet the first hello was another Rolla native. We didn't realize what was in store for us until much later. While we were working for AB in Colorado, we took a 9-hour car ride to KC, a road trip with friends to South Dakota, and a 17-mile hike up Mt. Elbert. We got to sky diving and were fast friends. It wasn't until back at school that our friendship was able to grow. Study dates at Panera turned into sunsets and appetizers in the car before movies. We knew what we had found, so a trip to Colorado was... suspicious after nearly a year of dating had flown by. Dustin swore it wasn't THAT trip as we made our way across Kansas. That second morning of the trip, after a walk in the crisp mountain air, we drove to some family land further into the mountains. Samantha wasted no time trudging through the show to walk out on the lake and take in the view. Dustin, all grins and shaking had pulled off the surprise of a lifetime. Walking out behind me, while our friends snuck out of their hiding place to snap pictures, he pulled me into a hug and a slow dance. Dustin said, "I know we have talked a lot about starting our lives together, so why don't we start today. Will you marry me?" He was on one knee, in the mountain snow, while we both happy cried over the start of our next chapter.
