Our story began in the summer of 2019- August, to be exact. We matched on Hinge… we can say that with pride now, thanks to the pandemic normalizing online dating, Haha! After concerts with the boys one weekend and then bachelorette parties in Nashville the next, SHE asked me to get drinks the next weekend! Fast forward to August 23rd, the location was the Truck Yard in The Colony! We met and talked each other's ears off over several Coors Lights (which is how Sam’s hinge profile caught my eye) before being joined by a couple of her friends. They hung with us for a drink or 2 before leaving only for Sam to get a phone call minutes later saying that one of their cars had been vandalized! I thought that was her way of getting out of the rest of our date that night, ha! So, we get out to her friend's car and find that it actually was vandalized for real! You don’t really think I stood there and let one of the ladies change the tire, do you? One slashed tire later, we were back inside as I reeked of sweat and with grease on my hands, we ordered another round of Coors Lights and as they say, the rest is history
We and a group of friends decided to take a couple's trip to Nashville. Like everyone else, we thought what better place for a couple's trip than to Music City! I knew I wanted to pop the question, but I just didn’t know where! Lightbulb went off and when we first met, all we talked about was how much we loved Nashville and I knew that’s where I was destined to ask. We had reservations at Old Hickory, a fine steakhouse in the Gaylord Opryland. I found a water fountain that I really liked and that’s where I wanted to ask her to be my wife. We left the steakhouse and decided to “explore” but I just didn’t quite know where this fountain was and I started to panic, but I kept my cool! Low and behold, we stumble on the fountain and that’s where I told her I didn’t want her to be my girlfriend anymore. I then knelt down and pulled out her ring. She said YES! After a few seconds of surprise and disbelief, which felt like hours to me! Then we did what everyone else did, bar hopped up and down Broadway! In the meantime, we ran into a bachelor party and one of the guys had just gotten married and he was actually from Grapevine! He recommended The Laurel… and I really must say, he hit it out of the park with his recommendation! We decided on April 8, 2023, at… you guessed it, THE LAUREL!
