Pasticceria Bar Morelli

Pasticceria Bar Morelli

776 Via Appia, Minturno, Lazio 04026, Italy
, +390771682656

Go to breakfast spot in the area for amazing lattes/cappuccinos and cornettos (Italian version of breakfast croissant)! Definitely more of a pastry spot (they don't serve eggs/that kind of breakfast) but a must try.

Il Molo

Il Molo

1-2 Piazza del Pesce, Gaeta, Lazio 04024, Italy

Our go to for daily dose of gelato near the water with a beautiful view!

Via Vitruvio

Via Vitruvio

Via Vitruvio, Formia, Lazio 04023, Italy

Street in Formia with little shops/boutiques! Strip is a long the way to Gaeta where our favorite gelato stores are.

Castello di Minturno

Castello di Minturno

Piazza Roma, Minturno, Lazio 04026, Italy

Nestled in the heart of Minturno, Castello di Minturno stands as a breathtaking testament to history and architecture. This majestic castle, with its baronial charm, is an enchanting landmark that captures the imagination of visitors and locals alike. With a striking appearance that dominates the valley, it offers panoramic views of the Gulf of Gaeta. There are a few local shops and restaurants within the plaza and farmers markets on the weekends. If you plan on visiting for lunch keep in mind "riposo," the Italian version of the siesta, which is a mid-afternoon break when shops close and people take a nap or have a long lunch. It can start between noon and 1:30 PM and end between 2:30 PM and 4 PM.

The peak of Redentore and Mount Altino

The peak of Redentore and Mount Altino

04023 Formia LT Italy,

The Cima del Redentore, which overlooks the gulf of Formia and Gaeta from 1252 meters above sea level, has hosted an enormous statue of the Redeemer since 1900. From here you can admire a wonderful panorama, which includes the Pontine Islands, Ischia and Vesuvius. From Monte Altino you can also see the Ciociaria and the Apennines. This is a short 30 minute drive from Minturno. If driving here expect narrow roads with switch backs and watch out for cows on the road! Wild horses can also be seen from the top of the mountain and they should not be approached. The provided address will take you to the parking area, which is a short easy hike up to the statue of the redeemer.

Fortino Disco Beach

Fortino Disco Beach

Via Flacca 5804, Sperlonga, Italy

This one of the most beautiful private beaches in the area. They have friendly staff, a full bar that serves drinks and snacks, nice bathrooms/changing rooms, and comfortable beach chairs for rent. We went here last year and had the whole beach to ourselves!

Rome

Rome

Rome, Lazio, Italy

Rome is only 1.5-2 hours away. If you haven't been definitely worth a day trip or two! Make sure to purchase tickets for sight seeing early (4-6 wks out) as they do often sell out, and get there as early as possible to avoid the lines. Just a few places we would recommend are colosseum (with underground), Trevi fountain, and Trastevere.

Amalfi Coast

Amalfi Coast

Campania, Italy

The Amalfi Coast is a 34 mile stretch of coastline along the southern edge of Italy’s Sorrentine Peninsula, in the Campania region. It’s a popular holiday destination, with sheer cliffs and a rugged shoreline dotted with small beaches and pastel-colored fishing villages. The coastal road between the port city of Salerno and clifftop Sorrento winds past grand villas, terraced vineyards and cliffside lemon groves. We visited here last year and fell in love with the views! Be warned though, driving here is not for the faint of heart (there are alternative ways that may be better such as ferry or bus). If driving - the roads are extremely windy and you should expect to encounter large tour busses on roads that would be consider one-lane in the US.

Pompeii Ruins

Pompeii Ruins

1 Via Villa dei Misteri, Pompei, Campania 80045, Italy

Pompeii is a vast archaeological site in southern Italy’s Campania region, near the coast of the Bay of Naples. Once a thriving and sophisticated Roman city, Pompeii was buried under meters of ash and pumice after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. The preserved site features excavated ruins of streets and houses that visitors can freely explore. (1 hour and 15 minutes south of Minturno)
