Sam and Terra met each other in Arcata California, nestled between the towering Redwood forest and the foggy Pacific Ocean. Sam and Terra shared the same philosophy class at Humboldt State Unviersity. They soon started socializing outside of class and sharing adventures up and down the Northern California coast. Terra and Sam could always be found together, playing in the waves and climbing on the rocks at Moonstone beach; wandering through the Redwoods behind the University; or driving South to San Francisco and Oakland to see music and enjoy the city. After both had finished school they decided to move out to Bozeman and make a life together under the Big Sky.
Terra and Sam had been celebrating life together for almost ten years. They had traveled up and down the West Coast from Joshua Tree to the San Juan Islands; attended concerts together from California to Montreal; and camped, climbed, soaked, swam and hiked all over the Greater Yellowstone Area. In the constant pursuit of new adventures, Sam and Terra made plans to travel south to Idaho where they would be in the path of a Total Solar Eclipse. Unbeknownst to Terra, Sam had secretly been conspiring for months with an expert silversmith to craft the perfect set of engagement rings for them both. The utmost levels of secrecy were maintained around this event and Terra remained unaware of what Sam had planned, surprises have always been a hallmark of Terra and Sam's relationship and somewhat of a specialty for Sam. As the time drew near the happy couple found themselves camping in the foothills above the Snake River. Reliably, Sam had found a rocky cliff nearby so the two scrambled to the top of a tower called Pinnacle Rock. With the Snake River Plain stretching out before them they witnessed a cosmic ballet as the moon passed in front of the mid-day sun for a full minute. As the light and heat from the sun returned to their perch Sam surprised Terra with the rings and asked her to spend many more decades with him. She said yes:)
