We first met in high school. Sam graduated first, so we didn't see much of each other. Fast forward a couple of years, and a late night out with his friends and a late dinner after cram studying for me, brought us back together. After running into each other at Buffalo Wild Wings we made plans for a date. We decided we wanted more than just a couple of dates, even though our relationship was starting with an Africa trip and fire season. The rest is history, and we are just a hop-skip and a jump away from being husband and wife!
Sam and I had been dating for almost two years, and had never taken a trip to the beach. I had been wanting to go to the beach for a while, but life was seemingly too busy. Sam found an open Saturday, and told me to pick which beach I wanted to go to. I chose Astoria, because there were several museums and forts I had wanted to go to. Lucky for me, Sam shares a love for museums as well! A few weeks later and we were on our way. Even though we were going to the Oregon Coast at the end of February, we were met with bright blue skies and warm weather! We spent the day going to museums, eating seafood and exploring both Fort Clatsop and Fort Stevens. By the end of the day I was feeling a little bummed, because I had gone to the beach expecting to be able to walk on sand and go up to the ocean, but to my surprise, most of Astoria is bordered by rock levies, and beach access isn't all that accessible. But Sam was determined to find me a beach! We ended up at Sunset beach, and with our impeccable timing (really Sam's great timing), it was almost sunset! After walking down the beach and hiking to the top of a dune we stopped to take in the view. Sam said my name, and I turned around to see him on one knee. I'm not even sure I let him finish his sentence before I said "YES", and hugged him so hard that some might say it was more of a tackle. This was the greatest day of my life yet! We are so excited that we get to share our next greatest day with you!
