Ryan and a few of his buddies attended Musical Mondays at a now-defunct bar on Capitol Hill. While sitting at a table nursing a beer, he noticed a dashing man substituting as the VJ for the night. His name was Sam, and Sam was very busy doing all of the things a successful host does—mingle, schmooze, take requests, and play show tunes. At some point, the two men met, flirting ensued, and numbers were exchanged. An immediate connection formed, and Sam and Ryan learned things about each other. Sam was a theater director who worked on the east-side of Seattle, primarily in Kirkland. Ryan was a deck hand and tour guide working for Argosy Cruises. Later that week, Sam joined Ryan in Kirkland on the Lady Mary to hear his tour and enjoy the waters of Lake Washington. Thus was the beginnings of their love. Flash forward nearly four years later, and Ryan and Sam return to the Lady Mary to set sail on Lake Washington, joined by friends and family, to celebrate their marriage and chart a new future course together.
