We’re so excited to welcome you to Oaxaca, one of our favorite cities! Below is helpful travel information for guests coming from the United States and the Netherlands. Traveling from the United States Most major U.S. cities will require a connecting flight to Oaxaca International Airport (OAX), usually through Mexico City (MEX) or Houston (IAH). Popular Routes: Fly to Mexico City (MEX), then connect to Oaxaca (OAX) on Aeroméxico or Volaris — flight time is about 1 hour. Fly through Houston (IAH) — United Airlines offers direct flights to Oaxaca. Traveling from the Netherlands The easiest route is through Mexico City, followed by a short domestic flight to Oaxaca. Popular Routes: KLM and Aeroméxico offer nonstop flights from AMS to Mexico City (MEX). From Mexico City, take a 1-hour flight to Oaxaca with Aeroméxico or Volaris. *If connecting via US, EU citizens need an ESTA ** EU citizens do not require a visa for Mexico, a valid passport is sufficient (an ID card is not)

Oaxaca’s airport is small and easy to navigate. Once outside, the surroundings may look simple, but don’t worry — the true charm begins in the Historic Center. Official Taxi to Your Hotel: - Exit the airport and go to the official taxi counter. - Tell them your hotel name. - Pay a fixed rate - You’ll receive a ticket and your assigned driver. - Estimated time: 20–25 minutes to Centro. Oaxaca is a perfect city for walking. For short and medium distances, Centro is safe and pleasant both day and night. However, for further distances at night it is recommended to use the yellow taxis you will find in the city. Options: Yellow taxis — safe, affordable, cash only.

These hotels are a great place to start, but there are plenty of other accommodations available at a range of price points. We recommend visiting this site to find the best fit for your needs. We suggest staying in the historic city center, as all wedding events and local attractions are easily walkable from there. Airbnb also offers some excellent options, especially if you’re traveling with a larger group.

Checklist - Neem Mexicaanse peso's mee of neem geld op bij geldautomaten in het centrum. Zorg dat je meerdere passen beschikbaar hebt voor het geval er één niet werkt. Uit onze eigen ervaring werkte Maestro slecht, Vpay soms, en Mastercard en Visa bijna altijd. Soms helpt het om meerdere bankautomaten te proberen. Je kunt ook geld wisselen bij wisselkantoren. Je kunt dit ook zonder recept bij de lokale apotheek kopen. - Zonnebrandcrème en een zonnebril – het weer is droog en zonnig.

De luchthaven van Oaxaca is klein en overzichtelijk. Eenmaal buiten ziet de omgeving er misschien eenvoudig uit, maar maak je geen zorgen: de charme begint in het historische centrum. Er is een taxibedrijf op de luchthaven voor vervoer naar de stad: - Verlaat de luchthaven en ga naar de officiële taxibalie. - Geef de naam van uw hotel door. - Betaal een vast tarief. - U ontvangt een ticket en uw toegewezen chauffeur. - Geschatte reistijd: 20-25 minuten naar het centrum. Oaxaca is een perfecte stad om te voet te verkennen. Het centrum is voor korte en middellange afstanden zowel overdag als 's nachts veilig en aangenaam. Voor langere afstanden 's nachts is het aan te raden om gebruik te maken van de gele taxi's in de stad. Opties: Gele taxi's - veilig, betaalbaar, alleen contante betaling mogelijk.

De onderstaande hotels zijn een goed beginpunt, maar er zijn nog veel meer accommodaties beschikbaar in verschillende prijsklassen. We raden aan de onderstaande website te bezoeken om de best passende optie te vinden. Wel raden we aan om te verblijven in het stadscentrum, aangezien alle bruiloftsactiviteiten en lokale bezienswaardigheden van daaruit gemakkelijk te belopen zijn. Airbnb biedt ook een aantal goede opties, vooral als je met een grotere groep reist.
