For those who know anything about the city, Gary might not seem like the 'ideal proposal spot' at first glance. Secluded and full of abandoned places to explore, Gary was a dream proposal spot for Sam. After a day full of exploring abandoned high schools and churches, we made our way to Gilroy Stadium, an outdoor football stadium that the Jackson 5 played at twice! On the top of Sam’s list of places to explore, Quinn saw it as the perfect opportunity to propose. We struggled to find a way into the stadium due to gates and rubble, but eventually found our way in through the back of the stadium bleachers, through the green room and past the old locker rooms. Even after how far we made it, it seemed like it might be a bust once we struggled to find a way out to the field. Then at the turn of one last corner, Sam found an opening to the front of the field. Now we were standing at the base of the stadium bleachers, each row held down by overgrown vines. We climbed up to the announcer’s booth and found stairs leading to the top of the booth. From one challenge after another to find our way through the stadium, we were rewarded with a beautiful lookout over the rest of the city. And the rest is history… (history that just so happened to be captured by drone footage you can watch above!).
