Miranda hosted a Friendsgiving dinner at the condo she was living in and as guests were arriving she was bustling about the kitchen basting the turkey, pouring drinks, and greeting guests. Sam walked in with Miranda's friend, Jacky, and her boyfriend (one of Sam's best friends), Logan. Sam insisted that he couldn't keep his eyes off Miranda as she "floated" around the kitchen. When the turkey was done, Miranda asked for help carving the turkey, and Sam was the first to volunteer. He insists it was the best turkey he's ever had. The two didn't see each other again until New Year's Eve after Sam had asked Jacky and Logan about Miranda. Miranda was celebrating with Jacky and friends, when Jacky played match maker and told Sam that Miranda was in need of New Year's Kiss. Sam's response was "Where do I need to be?" he showed up shortly after and they had the best night together. They both knew immediately that they had found the loves of their lives and have been head over heels ever since.
That weekend, Sam was dead-set on getting to Lassen National Park. He even had to find someone to cover his shift so that they could go. Miranda was happy to just be able to get out of town and enjoy the peacefulness of the woods with Sam and she loved going up to Lassen as much as he did. They left first thing in the morning after having breakfast with Sam's mom, Stephanie, and leaving the dogs with her. They got to their campsite a couple hours later, set-up camp, then headed up into the park to get to exploring. As they pulled up to the park entrance, Miranda was in awe of how beautiful it was. It was a beautiful day, and despite how sunny and warm it was, the park was still covered in snow. They stopped at the gift shop and visitor's center and had fun looking around, then drove up to the peak parking lot, stepped into their snow boots, and set out into the snow. The trails and lakes were all covered with many feet of snow, so we set out to climb a nice tall hill right across from the peak. Sam practically ran up as Miranda slowly made her way. When she finally made it to the top, Sam wrapped her in a big squeeze and they admired the view they had alone together. Sam then suggested that they head over to where his backpack was laying in the snow to grab some water. Miranda knelt down to grab the bottle to find a couple small gifts that Sam had sneakily purchased while she was in the bathroom at the gift shop. Miranda turned around to find Sam on one knee, as it took her a minute to realize what was happening Sam asked her to stand up. He held her hand and asked her to marry him in many more, sweet words. Miranda said yes many times and Sam slipped the ring on her finger. It wasn't until after they squeezed each other tight that Miranda finally looked down at her ring. They got to spend the rest of the day soaking it up in the park before they stopped at their favorite diner up there and were able to contact family to share the news.
