Our Story

Where did y'all meet? We met on Hinge šŸ˜…. Sam accidentally missed her opportunity to swipe right on Mace by exiting out of the app, and was disappointed when she re-entered the app Mace's profile was gone. A day later Mace's profile reappeared (which never happens), and she HESITATED. She thought Mace was too out of her league. But she took a chance and swiped right! Meanwhile, Mace is sitting at Bowling League, app deleted and no longer active, she had given up on meeting anyone on Hinge. While bowling she was encouraged to download the app again and give it another shot. After downloading it back and swiping through the waiting likes, Mace saw Sam. She cancelled the other date she had to meet Sam and the rest is history. Who said I love you first? That is hotly debated! While swimming at the lake, Mace worked up the courage to say the three magic words, but Sam panicked and dove under water. Thinking the feelings were not reciprocated, Mace emotionally retreated for the day. But later that day, Sam confessed her feelings, and was the first to say "I love you" out loud. Sooooo...both? šŸ˜‚ How did you know they were the one? Sam knew at first sight, but was scared to admit it until she felt safe with Mace, and even then didn't say it out loud until she proposed. Mace proved over and over that she was an empathetic and attentive partner, so it was easy for her to win Sam's heart AND mind. Mace was a bit more guarded, yet optimistic when she met Sam. Not wanting to fall too fast, she paced her thoughts and feelings out to make sure that this relationship was different. Even so, Mace knew when, without hesitation, she bought tickets to see a band in concert that she had never heard of, but was raved about by Sam, that this relationship was different. Standing in a very crowded room, surrounded by strangers, she felt everything slow, the room go quiet, and suddenly it was just the two of them. The only thing on Mace's mind then was Sam's smile and wanting to make her happy everyday. How did y'all propose?? Mace went first, but Sam was not far behind. We went to Glacier National Park, both with the hope to get engaged, but not sure if it would happen or how. Unbeknownst to each other, we had each devised a plan to do just that. Mace booked a photographer to wait at Bowman Lake, the place Sam had stated was the most beautiful when they planned the trip. That photographer would arrive in the afternoon, but we arrived early. To kill time, they chose to hike, and the trail they chose was...not fun. After miles of switchbacks, mosquitos, and elevation (gain somehow both ways!), we arrived back sweaty, bitten, and exhausted. Reminding Mace of why she was the one, Sam, with a huge smile on her face, didn't hesitate to change outfits in a tiny outhouse to go to the supposed "dinner reservations" Mace said she made. Before leaving, Mace suggested they go take a photo in front of the lake, since they were dressed nicely. They walked back to the shore, Mace started "the speech" dropped to a knee and our engagement photo shoot began! Sam proposed the next day, bringing to life a vision that Mace had divulged early on in their dating years. She nailed every detail, somehow even controlling the weather, to recreate the vision Mace had of Lake McDonald. Sam secretly snuck coffee, a blanket, and lights into a bag to have a breakfast picnic on the lake shore. After pouring coffee and watching the waves lap on the rocks, Sam got down on one knee and told Mace she knew that she was the one since they first met. ā¤ļø
