It all started when Katie went down to visit her sister, Alyssa, at McKendree University. Alyssa wanted Katie to meet some of her new friends and they went to Sam's dorm. Katie and Sam hit it off right away even though Katie had a boyfriend at the time. Sam didn't seem to care about that fact and came home with Alyssa one weekend so he could see Katie again. Katie thought that if he was willing to travel 3 hours to see a girl he had met only once then there must be something there. She dumped the boyfriend and she and Sam decided to take a chance on each other.
