How we met.

August 2017

For those of you who are reading this, I encourage you to be prepared… Living in a modern society, where technology & social media influence close to every feeling and decision that is made, our story may be one that feels scripted. As much as both of us could encourage you all that it isn’t, please read below of how both Sam and I began the rest of our lives. It was our first day of high school, freshman year to be exact... I’m sure (Julia), we were both freaking out. From being at the bottom of the popularity and hierarchy barrel, to just being at a new school. What started as some first day of school, turned out to be one much more I believe neither one of us envisioned. French 101 with Madame — our 4th period class was quickly approaching. That was where both Sam and I would see one another for our very first time. It did not take a rocket scientist to figure out that the door was locked to the class. For those of you who know Sam, apparently it did. Even with every student standing in front of the door, I was approached. As I was waiting outside the door with my head down, footsteps approached me. These footsteps just so happened to be Sam’s. He asked me a question about whether this was the door that led to the French 101 class. I looked up and gave him, my subtle yet confident reply, “yes this is”. Looking back, I’m pretty sure I replied with my head down. I will never forget the first time I had looked up in that class, because only one voice made me do so. From the minute the teacher was introducing herself to the moment my head finally rose… I kept hearing random jokes. These jokes, to no surprise, were being thrown around, by what I only knew to be some random kid. This random kid ended up being Sam of course. What I now, and will forever refer to, as our class jokester! He was hilarious. As the days of our freshman year continued, I only started to look up more. I found myself laughing more, and (maybe I found myself staring more too). And that’s where it all started, with a simple Bonjour!
