In 2015, Sam and Jasmine had been driven by friends to show up at a Contra Dance event at an after-hours high school gymnasium filled with rainbow tutus in Brooklyn, NY. Jasmine, a classically trained dancer, was out of her depth with this extremely programmed and grid-like dance method, causing traffic issues in between the lines of hundreds of practiced square dancers. Sam, noticing a damsel in distress, came to her rescue with the innocent question, "Hey, do you need a dance partner?" They fumbled through the matrix of practiced line-dancers laughing hysterically, swirling, talking about Herbie Hancock, and pausing periodically for Sam to take the stage and sit in on the bass. Sam, with stars in his eyes, like a gentleman from a bygone era, accompanied Jasmine throughout the night until our final walk home. Three days later, he showed up with the jazz albums they had discussed loving, and open car seats for taking Jas and her friends from Mexico to the beach. They open-heartedly said yes at every opportunity, and here we are! Neither has been Contra Dancing since, but maybe one day!

After three years of engagement, we just want to get married! Covid can no longer postpone our plans to be a family. In fact, nothing has reinforced our love more deeply than getting through this time together. If you are in the NY City metro area and safe to travel, we are honored to have you at our Brooklyn Prospect Park wedding ceremony in person on March 23rd at 3 pm (inconvenient, sorry, but chosen for astrological significance.) If you can only witness from afar, we are honored to digitally include you in our ceremony via Zoom, link on the following page. We will have a post-covid California reception "when it's over." We look forward to celebrating with our beloved friends and family as things progress.
