River Market
This website has all of the information you need to visit the River Market! This is one of my favorite places to visit and, coincidentally, where Gabe and I had our first date. On the weekends there are a bunch of local vendors that sell anything from fresh home grown fruits and veggies to wine, beer, elk meat, crafts/homegoods, jams/jellies, and plenty of plants!
Iron District
This place is awesome! It has 2 bars, 2-3 stores, and 5-6 rotating local restaurants. It is all outdoors with plenty of seating, shade, live music, and yard games.
Main Event Kansas City North
Main Event is for all ages with arcade games, bowling, pool, laser tag, and more!
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
This is our local art museum and it is HUGE and totally free! There are 4 levels of various works of art inside the museum along with a sculpture park, spacious lawn, and mini golf outside. Kansas City's ginormous shuttlecocks are a must see!
National WWI Museum and Memorial
If you are a history buff, the WWI museum is the place for you. If you aren't, you still have to go because you haven't seen Kansas City until you've seen it from the top of the WWI tower!
Union Station Kansas City
Union Station is the historic Kansas City railroad station that is still in service! Go see the yearly decorations, check out Science City with the kids, or walk across the sky-walk to go shopping at Crown Center!
Q39 - Midtown
Gabe swears that this is the BEST BBQ in all of Kansas City and he refuses to budge on his opinion of this.
Char Bar - Westport
Another great sit down BBQ place with pickleball and lots of outdoor activities!
Joe's KC BBQ
Pickup BBQ place -- Joe's is ALWAYS poppin', so if you go here, be prepared to stand in line! But it is DELICIOUS!
Beer Kitchen
Hands down, the BEST happy hour -- and it's on Saturday and Sunday too! Delicious appetizers, fabulous drinks, and located in Westport so you can go day drinking at all the nearby bars after if you want LOL
Jose Pepper's
If you ask anyone what my favorite restaurant is, they will either say 54th street or Jose Peppers! The BEST texmex food, great tacos, enchiladas, chimichangas, you name it! And don't you dare forget to get some espinaca dip!
Stroud's Oak Ridge Manor
If you're craving the best homemade pan fried chicken you've ever had in your life... Go to Strouds!
The Landing Eatery & Pub
The Landing is a locally owned and operated sports bar in Liberty, MO. It's got great food and fabulous drinks!
Parlor
Located in the Arts District of downtown KC, Parlor has 6-7 rotating local restaurants inside its two story building. It's a super cool place to visit!
Dutch bros
The BEST coffee, tea, soda, any drink really place IN THE WORLD. I walk into class with Dutch Bros in my hand at least once a week. Ask any of my students and they'll tell you I'm obsessed. You MUST go here!
Scooter's Coffee
Another great coffee drive through! Lots of flavors, lots of drink options, and super quick service.
Mildred's Food + Drink
The cutest breakfast spot in downtown KC with the best breakfast burritos and delicious coffee! Head next door to the Kansas City Public Library while you're at it!
The Big Biscuit
Delicious sit down breakfast place with incredible big biscuits, pancakes, and more. Ask about their sticky biscuit!
Kate's Kitchen
Kate's Kitchen is a one of a kind (literally, there's only one) diner style local breakfast spot. Great food and even better service.
Snooze, an A.M. Eatery
Snooze is a retro themed breakfast spot near Westport that has the most delicious seasonal pancakes and lots of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. Check out their millionaire bacon!
