In 2017, Emiline was in her senior year of college. Emiline and her roommates hosted a tailgate party at her college home, 11 Dixie, for the NC State vs. Clemson game. A fellow Wolfpack friend brought Sam along to tailgate before the game. Emiline was running late to her own party (of course) and still getting ready when another friend called to say, “a Clemson fan is waiting for you downstairs”. Emiline knew she would NEVER be friends with a Clemson fan. Emiline ran downstairs to meet her Wolfpack friend and Sam, the Clemson fan. Even though she hated Clemson, she couldn’t help but instantly fall for the boy wearing the Clemson jersey.
It is a family tradition to dress up one night out of the week to take pictures while on family vacation. On family picture night, the whole family began to walk out to the beach when it started to rain. This was not a light drizzle of rain- it was a full-blown storm. After being soaked by the storm, a majority of the family decided to give up on pictures for this year. We went to the house to dry off, when Emiline’s uncle, who was unaware of Sam’s plans, announced the radar was clear for about an hour to finish our pictures if we wanted to. Sam was eager and said he would love to take family pictures. After taking a few group shots, Emiline, as always, asked Sam to take a few photos of them as a couple. After a few pictures were taken, Emiline turned around to see Sam on one knee. Everyone except Emiline’s parents were in shock! To celebrate, Emiline’s family bought Kilwin’s waffle cones and ice cream to be brought back to the beach house.
