On our first date, Sam showed up to see me. At first, I thought we would be hanging out at one of our houses. When I got in his car, he asked me if I was hungry. I said I wouldn’t mind getting something to eat. We decided on Oriental food, but when we got to Tokyo Garden, it was totally packed! An hour wait. Yama sushi, the same. Then it started raining! We ran around everywhere in the rain! From Yama sushi to Kampai. Eventually we got to The Sailing Boat. We were the only ones there. We sat down and the rain stopped. We weren’t expecting it but, there wasn’t a single second of silence. Even from the very beginning we’ve enjoyed each others company. Rain or shine.
I had been pondering for some time what the best way to propose to her would be. I wanted it to be special and cute – things I know she would appreciate. I decided that dinner at a semi-nice restaurant (that we had been to on one of our first dinner dates!) would be a perfect setting. I was incredibly nervous. Not only was the restaurant busy, I had no idea when I would get a moment to pull the waiter aside to give him the note I planned to be placed with dessert. As luck would have it, Ella got up to use the restroom and I could see our waiter next to the bar. My heart racing, I walked up and asked to speak with him. I handed him the note and asked that he serve it with the dessert. My heart dropped when he replied that he’s unsure if dessert will be served. I told him that I don’t care what it is, he has to bring something, anything! He assured me he would. We had a lovely dinner together, and even though I was sure that her brilliant mind had already figured me out – when the note came with dessert, to my shock - she looked surprised. She picked it up and began reading while I slipped the ring out of my front pocket. I was so excited and scared I forgot to even get down on my knee, but grabbed her hand and slipped the ring onto her finger. I asked her to marry me. With tears streaming, waitresses watching, and makeup running she said yes. Isabella has made me the happiest man alive, and I promise I will love her until the end of time.
