CJ and I met in 2024 the way most couples meet in modern day: Hinge. I wasn’t expecting anything at the time, but I am so appreciative for the silly humor we both share. On my profile I said I would buy the first drink if you could answer my riddle. My riddle was one I still hold near and dear to my heart from my student teaching days, and goes “why couldn’t the toilet paper cross the road?” CJ answered correctly, to which the answer is “because it got stuck in a crack!” It was right before his Halloween party, so we made plans to meet at a local taco spot in Spokane. I was sick, and couldn’t even taste the tacos, but held it together enough to not give that away. As far as first dates went, I wasn’t impressed, but I also wasn’t disgusted. He walked me home like the gentleman he is, and I gave him a blanket because it was so cold outside and his car was parked a ways away from my apartment. I often reflect on this first date, as little did I know, but that would be my last first date ever. I am so grateful CJ has become my best friend, my secret keeper when I’ve heard some juicy gossip, the one I run to and will continue to choose each and every day. I am so impressed by his genuine kindness, sarcastic humor, and the tremendous patience he possesses. I’ve been dreaming of this day since as long as I can remember, and how lucky am I to get married to someone I care more about as a human than the wedding day.
