At all Hallow's Tide, may God keep you safe From goblin and pooka and black-hearted stranger, From harm of the water and hurt of the fire, From thorns of the bramble, from all other danger, From Will O' The Wisp haunting the mire; From stumbles and tumbles and tricksters to vex us, May God in His mercy, on this day protect us. - Irish Halloween blessing Make it as simple or as elaborate as you wish, but COSTUMES are a MUST for this wedding celebration!
The cookie table tradition is particular to Youngstown. The town became an immigrant community in the early 20th century. Immigrants brought with them baking traditions and generations-old recipes. Instead of spending money on expensive wedding cakes, the Youngstown settlers turned to what they did best, baking cookies. The displays became varied collections of ethnic favorites like pizzelles, nut rolls and clothespin cookies. It's called by families as "labor of love." We are asking that you PLEASE BRING COOKIES, or a dessert of your choice, for our wedding's cookie table. Feel free to make it fun and halloween themed. If you prefer to do a trick, even better! Bring it on...
