It is hard to pinpoint exactly when our story starts. The story of how we met has been a long standing debate and it will differ based on who you ask. Ask Sam and she will tell you our first meeting occurred ages ago at the infamous Rushmeyer’s institution in Montauk. Ask Charles and he will swear by the “she slid into my DMs and I asked her out” storyline. Regardless of the debate, one thing is certain – our story would have never been written had the COVID-19 pandemic not occurred. And despite all the hardship many experienced during that period, our story is a good reminder that amazing things can come out of difficult times. In December of 2020 after months of quarantine, we both had already made the decision to migrate from New York City and move back in with our parents in Vero Beach, Florida. Sam spent her time working, staying healthy by walking miles with her mom every morning and spending quality time with her brother & nephew. Charles spent his time working, golfing...and well that's about it. After reconnecting over social media we decided to meet for drinks at another infamous institution, the Riverside Cafe in Vero. Looking back, it probably was not the most ideal location for a first date but the surroundings quickly became a blur that night as we established an instant connection and talked the night away. In the weeks and months to follow, during the dog days of COVID, second and third dates quickly turned into weekend getaways to Miami, meeting the parents and a love story neither of us expected to find while holed up with our respective families in a sleepy Florida town. When it finally came time for both of us to move back to NYC it was clear we'd found something special and the only thing that was going to keep us apart was 10 blocks of concrete between Chelsea and the West Village. It was during this time that our relationship began to truly flourish. From exploring NYC together, moving in together and traveling the world for countless weddings together, our separate lives converged into one. We'd fallen in love and learned we wanted to spend the rest of our lives with one another. On April 8th of 2023, our story came full circle and we made a desire our reality in the same place where our relationship began. Despite popping the question ahead of the photographer arriving (we have no pictures of the actual proposal as a result), Charles picked a quiet spot on the John's Island beach with flowers and wine and asked Sam to marry him. The location of our wedding clearly holds a special place in our hearts and we could not be more excited to welcome you all into our lives for a special weekend of celebrating with those that mean the most to us!
