Question

What is a Chuppah?

Answer

The chuppah is a structure with a canopy under which a Jewish marriage ceremony is performed. It is tradition for both sets of parents to join the bride and groom under the chuppah during the ceremony. The ceremony will take place on the grass in the backyard. Please wear comfortable shoes that won’t sink into the ground.

Question

What is a Ketubah?

Answer

A Ketubah is a Jewish marriage contract that is written in Hebrew and English. The contract is surrounded by a meaningful piece of artwork, which is then displayed in the couple’s home for their lifetime. The Ketubah is signed by the bride, groom, rabbi, and two Jewish witnesses that are not blood related to the couple. The Ketubah is will be signed in private at the beginning of the wedding ceremony. Sam and Anna have asked very close friends Mason Horn and Yaara Cochavi to sign as their witnesses.

Question

Who is the welcome party for?

Answer

The welcome party is for everyone! This is a great opportunity to meet both the bride and groom and their families before the big day. We hope to get as much small talking done as possible at the welcome party so that everybody can focus on dancing and having fun at the actual wedding reception ;) The welcome party is a very casual opportunity to hangout at an outdoor pavilion with water and pizza provided. Unfortunately we are not able to provide transportation, but hope that doesn’t discourage anyone from catching an uber or lyft ride, as it is only 15min from the wedding venue. In case of bad weather, we can fit 75 people under the pavilion and hope everyone is willing to get to know each other more intimately.

Question

What is the rain backup plan for this outdoor wedding?

Answer

The wedding ceremony will take place on the grass in the backyard and the reception will take place under a tent in the backyard. After the ceremony concludes, we ask that physically abled guests bring all the chairs over to the tables under the main tent. There will be outdoor bathrooms for guests to use. In the event of rain, we kindly ask that guests be flexible. We will perform the ceremony under the main tent, and ask for people to help move tables and chairs accordingly.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Yes! While it is a backyard wedding on a Sunday afternoon, it is still a wedding and we want everyone to dress and feel their best! If you think you’re pretty, we think you’re pretty! The ONLY requirement is comfortable dancing shoes! Your shoes should have the ability to walk on thick wet grass (if necessary, bring backup shoes to dance in) In case of forecasted extreme weather, we will contact everyone to adjust as necessary. But let us all pray for a beautiful day :)

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes, street parking is available, however, it is a residential neighborhood and we want to be respectful of the neighbors. We encourage taking the provided transportation to/from the hotel (details to be provided at a later date). If you are staying somewhere else, please consider an uber, lyft, or taxi ride. For those of you driving from your Ohio home, please consider carpooling or parking dispersedly in the neighborhood.

Question

What time can I arrive?

Answer

Guests can arrive at the house anytime after 1:00pm. Pre-ceremony music will begin at 1:30 while everyone finds their seats. The processional will begin shortly after everyone is seated. Guests are not allowed inside the home during the wedding.

Question

What is the bathroom situation?

Answer

We will have a fancy bathroom trailer available for guests to use outside. Unfortunately, guests are not allowed inside the home during the wedding.

Question

Am I allowed a +1 guest?

Answer

We have a small capacity in the backyard and are very limited on space, so unfortunately we cannot accommodate +1 guests that are not specified on the invitation.

Question

Did I hear you’re having a food truck?

Answer

Wow, word travels fast! Yes, we indeed are having an Italian food truck provide the catering :) If you have special dietary requirements, please indicate them on your RSVP and reach out to either Sam or Anna directly and we will accommodate you.

Question

Is there any sentimental value about the location?

Answer

We are so glad you asked. Yes indeed there is! The venue is Sam‘s grandfather Al’s house, that his brother Kevin recently purchased and renovated. The wedding will take place outside the home in the backyard. Guests will not be allowed inside the house on the day of the wedding.

Question

Why are there so many dog pictures?

Answer

Sam & Anna have been fostering dogs ever since Sam’s dog Koda passed. We have fostered 12 dogs over the past year and it has been super rewarding! We will be including all our dogs in our wedding celebration :)
