Sam had just moved to California from Utah. He was couch surfing with people in the San Fernando Valley and applied for a job stocking shelves at Petco. He was instead given the dog grooming position. Here is when he and Alma first laid eyes upon each other. Little did they know they were looking at their future spouses. They quickly became best friends at work. Sam would stay after his shifts for hours just to spend time together, meanwhile Alma remained clueless. Then one day, fate stepped in and someone stole Sam's bike. This led Alma to give Sam a ride home, where he told her she was the most beautiful person he had ever laid eyes on. He asked Alma for a picture with their dog, Bean. While she was getting situated for the photo Sam got down on one knee and asked her to be with him for the rest of their lives.
