Bethlehem Lutheran Church Reception

We are so excited to get to celebrate with the Bethlehem community! The reception will begin at noon following the outdoor worship service. Lunch (delicious tacos) and drinks will be provided. There will be a few tables and chairs set up, but due to COVID protocols, we ask that you bring a chair and social distance from those not in your pod to the best of your ability. Our wedding in July was amazing, but we were so sad none of you could be involved so we cannot wait for this wonderful event!

Our Story

Alissa and I first met using an online dating app. We hit it off instantly, starting an almost continuous stream of texting. I was blown away by how intelligent, passionate, insightful, and fun she was. We had our first date on Thursday, November 21, 2019. We met in La Jolla for coffee and ended up spending almost three hours just walking around the bluffs talking. I will never forget walking up and seeing her for the first time standing outside of the café waiting for me. We had actually already planned our second date, before the first one had even happened; talk about confidence, and ended up having our first 3 dates in the span of just 4 days. Both of us were very clear about what we were looking for, and our conversations were deep from the beginning. On a beautiful moonlit Sunday evening, after a Packers victory, I asked Alissa to officially be my girlfriend and she said yes. Little did we know that just two months later the whole world would change. The COVID-19 pandemic hit and we were so thankful for where we were. Our relationship was strong enough that the stress of global pandemic, forced quarantine, and a complete reinvention of how we both did our jobs, didn’t break us, it actually bonded us more closely together. We like to say one month of dating during quarantine easily equals 3 or 4 months of non-pandemic time. So actually, we’ve been together for a couple of years now! We made the most of it, encouraged one another, supported one another, started cooking at home a lot more, and found safe ways to get outside when we could. On November 22, 2020, one year and one day after our first date we returned to the same bluffs in La Jolla to watch the sunset. After waiting for the flocks of tourists taking selfies to thin out, I got down on one knee, and asked Alissa to marry me.
