Most nationalities require a visa to enter Sri Lanka!! All tourists or business travelers to Sri Lanka must have an e-Visa or on arrival for entering the country as of April 17th, 2024. For those of you traveling with a Japanese passport, you can get your visa upon arrival, and it's free if you are going in April. May there be a charge. If you have a SimFree card, you can get a SIM in the airport - this is what I usually do. Mobitel seems to be the best for data transfers. Also, they have cash ATMs, where you can get some rupees. Most hotels take credit card, but it may be good to have some in hand if you plan to travel before or after.
