Daryl and I met informally in 2012, early in our junior year of high school, he was 17 and I was 16. We actually never had any classes together and did not share the same extracurricular activities. It started with just locker chatter before walking to our separate buses, which just so happened to be right next to each other. A smile here, a wave there, until FINALLY phone numbers were exchanged. I will never forget our first weekend talking, it was Labor Day weekend and we talked the entire long weekend. Still remaining friends, Daryl and I found ways to communicate in almost every 'tech' way possible while not at school, texting, instant messaging, phone calls and my favorite video chat, in its early days. We went on a few teen dates, you might say, throughout the school year. One summer night after a movie Daryl slipped and called me "Babe." I remember saying something like, “You can't call me that because I'm not your girlfriend.” I kid you not, he responded with "I kinda thought you already were." Daryl then asked me to be his girlfriend, it was June 21, 2013. During our senior year of high school we were inseparable, and we took that love into our early years of college. We were cities apart, but still managed to talk daily with plenty of virtual dates since I could not come home every weekend. We went strong for over four years before deciding to preserve our love to take some time to grow as individuals. Well that did not take long because as fate would have it, I applied for a position, not knowing it was at Daryl’s place of employment…and the rest is history! We have been inseparable ever since! On September 21, 2019 Daryl asked me and made it official again. Exactly one year and a half later, keeping the theme of the 21st, March 21, 2021, he popped the real question and of course I said YES to my best friend.
