“We first met back in 2018 while we were both working for Kwik Trip. It was Nik’s first real job and I was working part time while going to college. At first, I thought he was just a kid who had no idea what he was doing, but over time we got to know each other a little. Nik says he always thought I was cute but didn’t reveal this until years later. Time went on, we both got different jobs and forgot about each other. Until 2023 when we ran into each other coincidentally at another Kwik Trip, as guests this time. I remember thinking “He’s cute, and I’m single now. Maybe I’ll text him.” Nik had already texted me first by the time I got to work that day. We started talking every day and as the saying goes: “the rest is history.” We both realized we couldn’t live without each other so we decided to hang out for the rest of our lives 🩷” - Sam Our Engagement “I bought the ring five months before I proposed, Sam knew what she wanted and made sure that me & her best friend knew too. The ring was custom made and we had to wait for the stone to be grown. It was torture keeping that secret from her for so long. As soon as it arrived, I knew I couldn’t wait any longer to ask her. The night of the proposal, I had planned a date at Pier B restaurant. As we were leaving to have dinner, I was so nervous that I was missing turns and ended up making us arrive later than I was hoping. But the staff ended up being far more prepared than I was, they created the perfect cover story to get us to go up to the deck where Sara and Ben were setting up the decorations and placing the ring in a pre-planned spot while we had dinner. The cover story was that there were some really cool ice sculptures placed up there, (they sounded so cool to see, so both of us were a little let down that they didn’t actually exist). After getting up to the deck, I picked up the ring and brought Sam over into the small aisle created from the decorations where I got down on one knee and softly said the speech I had prepared. She said yes but kept asking me for a couple weeks if it was actually real. It was a fantastic evening, everything worked out perfectly!” - Nik
