How We Met

Good friends to forever partners.

We met as co-workers at a Perkins in Red Wing, MN. I, (Sam) was a hostess and then server there and Lucas was a cook. We commonly worked shift together on the weekends as well as on holiday breaks while in college. I went to Charleston, SC for my internship in dietetics and we stayed in touch. Hung out when I was in town or was on some type of break. Never anything romantic, (unknown to me that Lucas wished there was a way that this was not the case). When my internship was done and I moved back home, Lucas and I hung out a lot, in and outside of work. I had already accepted a job in Georgia before the internship was done, so according to Lucas, he never made a move because he knew I was moving away and that was something he was not interested in. We continued to hang out, Lucas had visited me in Georgia, and we would see one another when I would come home for visits. One day, on Facebook, I was reminded that it was Lucas's birthday. So I gave a general, "Happy Birthday Lucas, Hope you are doing well", and he came back to me with a private message telling me that a friend of ours moved out to where I was then living, Portland, OR. That made me excited so I was able to contact her, and we joked about what if we could get Lucas to come out here and the three of us could hang out again. Lucas agreed to come out, we all had a good time. I saw Lucas in a different light, and he still had the same feelings for me. So from then on, he moved to Portland and we started our relationship. Lucas, never had moved that far away from home, realized he was more of a family guy then he thought and he had to move back home to MN/WI. And now here we are, making our home/family in the Midwest.
