A Testimony of Answered Prayers

Like any great writer, God craftily foreshadowed Johnny and Sam’s love story. To put it bluntly, Johnny and Sam were a bit of an arranged marriage. Their dads were longtime friends who met at work in the 90’s, before Johnny and Sam were even born. Sam’s Dad helped build the basement in Johnny’s childhood home. Johnny and his dad helped build the basement in Sam’s. Meanwhile, Johnny’s brother, Joe, helped build Sam’s character by kicking her in the shins as they played in the back yard. In the years to come, Sam’s leg bruises healed as she fell out of touch with the boys. All the while, Tom and John stayed close friends. In 2020, a mutual family interest in conspiracy theories brought the Woodtke and Polizzi families back together for bi-monthly dinners. (Sam’s mother would like to note these dinners were her way of matchmaking.) The first night the Polizzi’s and Woodtke’s got together, Sam noticed something interesting about Johnny. He bore an uncanny resemblance to the description she gave God regarding the man she’d marry. This next part is all true, and can be verified in one of Sam’s many journals. Sam prayed for a tall brunette Christian man who went to the gym. A couple other things. He had to be an engineer, ideally with a Georgia Tech degree, and he had to play the guitar. Sam learned Johnny had a Tech degree but didn’t know about the guitar thing. Sam devised a plan to ask Johnny about his guitar skills, that was, to ask him in the most roundabout and indirect way imaginable. “Didn’t you say you play the trombone?” she asked. “No,” he answered, “but I do play some guitar.” That settled it. On January 8th of 2023, Sam realized Johnny was undoubtably the man she would marry. On September 15th of 2024, Johnny asked Sam to marry him. On October 5th of 2024, she did exactly that. The story began with the Lord. He’s still writing it, and it’s a good one. Simply put, He is the best writer in history.
