As a first year history teacher at Northwood High School Isabelle was overwhelmed, excited, and preoccupied with constant lesson planning. Little did she know that this first year of teaching would introduce her to an adventurous, hilarious, and compassionate high school counselor named Sam. A staff meeting organized by Sam would bring them face-to-face for the first time. Isabelle still did not know how to read her calendar (remember, she was a fresh faced and anxious teacher who struggled with technology). After desperately looking for where this meeting was held, Isabelle realized she was lost. She did, however, remember where Sam's office happened to be. In a rush, she made it to his office, only to realize that she was 30 minutes early. Thankfully, Sam appreciated the extra help and good conversation as they set up the meeting room together. After a couple of work happy-hours and casual conversations, Sam and Isabelle found themselves looking out for each other on campus. They were finally able to spend some quality time together thanks to a chaotic camping trip organized by their mutual friends, Greg, Jenn, and Lila Guy. Sam and Isabelle shared a tent the first night which ended up getting flooded due to poor placement (thanks Greg!). Sam woke Isabelle up in the middle of the night; they were floating on their sleeping pads over two inches of rain water. They had to take shelter for the rest of the night in Sam's tiny Subaru. In the morning, it was still down pouring, but they didn't want the trip or their time together to end. They decided to brave the weather, and when it passed, they spent the whole day laughing and climbing together. The hectic middle of the night crisis and beautiful day that followed was the first of many, and they have been sharing experiences of all kinds ever since. After three and a half years of being together (and two with Macklin) Isabelle and Sam are thrilled to celebrate with their friends and family on July 9th 2022!
