Question

What are the wedding events?

Answer

Holud Ceremony: The Gaye Holud ceremony (pronounced guy ho-lood) is a joyful pre-wedding celebration in Bengali culture. Family and friends gather to feed the couple a bite of sweets and sometimes apply turmeric paste on the couple, symbolizing blessings, happiness, and a radiant start to married life. Its a colorful, festive event filled with music, laughter, and love. Appetizers and refreshments will be served during this celebration. Wedding Ceremony: Our wedding ceremony will be a traditional American- style ceremony held on the beach. This is when we'll exchange vows and officially say "I do" with the ocean as our backdrop. A cocktail hour will follow immediately after the ceremony, so guests can relax, mingle and enjoy the celebration. Evening Reception: In the evening, we'll celebrate with an indoor Bangladeshi-style reception. This will include a grand entrance, dinner, music, and plenty of dancing as we celebrate with all our loved ones!

What is the dress code?

Answer

Holud Ceremony Attire: Bright, festive colors are encouraged! Shades of yellow, green, and gold are traditional for this celebration. Guests are welcome to embrace traditional Bengali attire or opt for typical American outfits, whatever feels most comfortable and celebratory. For women, this could include a dress, sari, or salwar kameez, and for men, a colorful shirt or kurta is perfect. For the ceremony: Beach cocktail attire. Our ceremony will be on the beach, so dress for warm weather and sunshine. We recommend footwear that’s easy for sand and don’t forget sunscreen! Evening Reception Attire: Join us for an elegant indoor evening of celebration! We invite guests to wear upscale, festive attire—ivory or similar tones are strongly encouraged. Yes, you can wear white! For women, this may include a dress, lehenga, or sari, and for men, suits, dress shirts or traditional attire such as a kurta or sherwani are perfect.
