Steven and Julia met thanks to the magic of Jewish geography, that uncanny way mutual friends and family connections always seem to bring people together. The real spark, though, came on Cinco de Mayo in 2021. We met at Playa Betty’s, a Mexican restaurant on the Upper West Side. The air filled with the scent of sizzling fajitas and a festive energy that matched the occasion. Conversation flowed easily, aided by bottomless margaritas and endless guacamole. By the end of the night, between the laughter, shared stories, and maybe a little too much tequila, we both knew this was the start of something special. From that day on, it was history.
