How We Met

"Blind Date"

Tony and I were set up by our mutual friend, Shannon. We met on August 31, 2011. Funny thing is that we were both at Shannon's birthday party the year before but Tony left before I got there. It happened to be a wig party though so when Shannon tried to find a picture of Tony to show me, she only had one of him in a wig. He had already seen pictures of me. We arranged to meet at Basil for dinner. I don't think he was super excited that I had to ask what he was wearing because of said wig. But from the moment we sat down, we talked nonstop. 6 years later (give or take), here we are!

The Proposal

What a perfect day it was!

Around the middle of October last year, Tony started talking about getting an Airbnb on Folly for a weekend. I didn't understand why and kept questioning it. He said he won the weekend from work and knew I wanted to go look for shark's teeth since Hurricane Matthew had tossed things around in the ocean. I can't remember how that idea was nixed, but then he suggested that we should go to brunch and look for sharks teeth one Sunday instead. I looked up the tide chart that day and saw that it would be high tide around that time, but decided that if he was willing to go with me on a hunt, then why not? We went to brunch at Rita's and then out to the beach where Tony proceeded to drop a Megaladon for me to find. I think he said I stepped on it twice before I found it. I was giddy with excitement. (I didn't know it was planted until many weeks later.) So, we keep walking for a while and then he yells, "hey Sally, what about this one?" I turn around and he's down on one knee. I stared at him (I think in shock and/or disbelief), and he said, "well, what do you say, will you be my wife?" And, I obviously said yes! After we called our families to tell them the news, we went home to meet Sara as I was supposed to go to the Mac Off with her that day. Well, we turn the corner and I see a lot of cars and people outside our house. Tony had arranged a surprise engagement party with the majority of our friends to celebrate. It was the most thoughtful and perfect day. In fact, I'd say it was the best day I have had yet with this man. We can't wait to celebrate our marriage with you all!
