Things To Do

We're so excited to celebrate with you in Oak Brook — and we know many of you will want to explore this beautiful area or take a trip into downtown Chicago while you're here. Below are a couple of local spots and some of the classic city highlights to help you make the most of your visit! If you do want to get downtown from Oak Brook, you can either travel by car or by train (who doesn't love trains?). It's about a 30-45min drive depending on that lovely Chicago traffic. The Metra BNSF Railway Line runs from Oak Brook or Hinsdale into Chicago Union Station which is located right in the loop. It's about a 35min ride and you'll come out right by the river across from the Sear's Tower. You can purchase tickets and check the schedule online, we like to use the Ventra app (https://www.ventrachicago.com/app/).

Oakbrook Center

100 Oakbrook Center, Oak Brook, IL 60523

One of the Midwest's largest open-air shopping and dining destinations (thanks ChatGPT).

Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art

1220 Kensington Road, Oak Brook, IL 60523

To save you a google: "lapidary" is the art of cutting and polishing stone. The museum also has an exhibit on earth science that includes a fossil of the famously strange Tully Monster (IL's state fossil). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tullimonstrum

Field Museum

1400 South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60605

Sue the T-Rex is here, need I say more?

Shedd Aquarium

1200 South DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60605

You can touch a number of freshwater fish, they periodically have a beluga whale show, and of course -- they have sharks :)

Au Cheval

800 West Randolph Street, Chicago, IL 60607

Best burgers. They also have a number of satellite "Small Cheval" locations that serve the same burgers!
