One cold winter night in Chicago, Mitch and Sally both found themselves out with friends at a bar called The Slippery Slope. Sally approached Mitch at the bar to say hello, and of course Mitch had to buy this beautiful girl a drink! After a drink and a couple games of skee-ball, Sally headed back to find her friends. As soon as she left, with the help of a friend (thanks Mike!), Mitch realized his mistake and ran after her to get her phone number. They had dinner the following week, and the rest is history!
I am typically terrible at keeping secrets from Sally, but this time I was determined not to give anything away. While in North Carolina celebrating Mr. Ryan's birthday with one too many glasses of wine, I had to pull Sally out of bed and we went out for a Saturday morning run. About a mile into the run, we entered a state park and I asked Sally if we could go check out the river that was next to the running trail. I then asked if she would be my wife, and she said yes! While we were out, the rest of the family had been busy setting up brunch, drinks, and plenty of pictures and congratulatory decorations, so we were able to come back and start the celebration right away. The party hasn't stopped since then, and I don't think it ever will!
