Sami and Katie met at a mutual friend's wedding (J wall and Renee). Sami had known Justin and Nate (Katie's brother) for years, originally meeting on vacation in Miami Beach 9 years earlier. Never meeting before, Sami first noticed Katie in church during the ceremony when Katie arrived 10 minutes late and quickly sat next to him. They started chatting throughout the night and Sami asked for Katie's number while out on the dance floor. They went out to dinner 2 weeks later and have been together ever since.

We went up north for Labor Day to Katie's family's cabin to enjoy the extended weekend. Little did Katie know, Sami had been planning to propose when they got up there. On Saturday, our group went out golfing at Hayward Golf Club. Trying to figure out when to pop the question, Sami decided that he wanted to do it once they got back to the cabin in the backyard by Crystal Lake. While driving back, Sami texted the other car to give a heads up of his plan and lined up a "photographer" for the special moment. When they got back to the cabin, Katie asked Sami if he wanted to go fishing, which worked perfect to 'the plan'. They grabbed the fishing poles and walked back to the pier. To slow Katie's fast pace, Sami gave her a "flat tire" by stepping on her heel in hopes to slow down Katie's stride. It worked and when she turned around Sami - pretending to fix his shoe- got down on one knee and the rest is history.
