National Mall
This was one of many spots Sarah and Aaron ventured to on their 9-hour second date. Great for sight seeing, especially all the monuments, and the fall weather will be perfect for a brisk walk!
Smithsonian National Museum of American History
Conveniently right across the street from our reception venue! Houses over a million artifacts, including the original Star-Spangled Banner flag and Dorothy's ruby slippers. As a Smithsonian property, this is completely free to enter.
Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum
Once again, any Smithsonian museum will do (they're all free), but this one has a special place in our hearts given Aaron's love of space and planes. Another second date stop of ours! Free, timed entry passes are required (we learned that the hard way).
Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center
If you're flying in from Dulles Airport, this nearby spot is perfect to stop by on your way into the city! It's another branch of the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, but bigger (and, some would argue, cooler) with a space shuttle to boot. If you're traveling with a space nerd, this will make their day.
Museum of the Palestinian People
The first museum in Washington, D.C. dedicated to Palestinian history, arts and culture.
National Museum of African American History and Culture
You can spend hours in this museum. It is a thorough, multi-floor experience that everyone should walk through. While free, timed entry passes are required and can be reserved at the link.
Albi
Meaning "my heart" in Arabic, Albi is a fine dining restaurant in D.C. that features open-fire cooking from Ramallah, Palestine (where Sarah's family is from) and proudly displays a well-earned Michelin star. It is one of the most elite, authentic showings of Middle Eastern cooking. Get a reservation in advance, because this place fills up fast. We recommend going the a la carte route and getting the knafeh for dessert!
2941 Restaurant
The spot where Aaron proposed! If you're up for venturing out to Falls Church, Virginia, this is another fine dining spot with amazing food and a magnificent full window view of an outdoor garden, pond and lake.
The Hamilton
One of our favorite restaurants where our friend (and groomsman) Ben is the bar manager, and named after the historical figure that inspired one of our favorite musicals, this restaurant offers an eclectic menu and upscale vibes. We recommend the sushi!
O'Sullivan's Irish Pub
Just a quick Uber or metro ride away, venture out to Arlington to have some buffalo chicken dip or a happy hour beverage, all while playing some trivia or watching our friend Patrick's band The Darts play!
VUE Rooftop
While the drinks are rather pricey, this spot has one of the best views you'll get of the D.C. skyline.
Starr Hill Tysons Biergarten
A rooftop brewery that's a favorite gem to listen to live music (a favorite activity of ours), play putt putt mini golf, and get some beverages and food truck goodies. It is also where we hosted our engagement party!
Java Nation
When Aaron lived in Bethesda, this was a frequent coffee spot. It is also where Aaron asked Sarah to be his girlfriend!
National Theatre DC
We are big fans of musicals and supporting the arts, and you can't get much better than the National Theatre to do that. If you have the time, see a show in our honor!
Georgetown
A great neighborhood for shopping, eating good food, or seeing stunning river views at the Georgetown waterfront!
