We connected on the Hinge dating app in March of 2021. What caught my attention is that Luke is from Colorado and went to CU Boulder, just like me! Nothing is better than a Colorado boy! I messaged him first with a very non enthusiastic "Go Buffs" (according to him) but luckily he responded. It quickly went from small talk to exchanging numbers. Our first date was on April 6th at Loco Patron in Tempe for tacos and margs. I walked in wearing my mask (still covid times) and when I took it off he thought I was the cutest thing he had ever seen. On top of all of the Colorado connections, we realized we had a lot in common including attending the same study abroad program, Semester at Sea. I acted surprised when he told me this but I already knew because I stalked him on instagram to make sure he wasn't a serial killer before meeting him in person. The first date turned into several more including trips to Rocky Point Mexico, boat days and lounging by the pool. We have gone to Rocky Point several times and have so many memories there now. One of our favorite things to do is wake surf on Luke's boat at Lake Pleasant. As you all know I am an indoor girl so him getting me to wake surf is a huge deal! He even taught me how to drive it. We love to travel and have gone on several trips together to Santa Barbara, Miami, a cruise to the Bahamas, Austin, Denver, Lake Powell, Las Vegas and of course Cabo San Lucas! We bought our first home in October of 2022 in Scottsdale AZ with our pup Cabo. That same week I got us tickets to Blink 182, a band we both have loved for years. After moving in with me, Luke realized I am a crazy dog mom but Cabo loves him. It's the perfect first home for our little family and we love it! The stars have all aligned for us these past few years and the best is yet to come.
Luke planned an epic trip to Lake Powell with all of his childhood buddies from Telluride, Colorado and some of his family. We rented a house boat and drove his boat down as well. Lake Powell is so beautiful and we had such a fun crew. We parked the houseboat in the perfect cove. At times it felt like we were the only ones on the lake. The day of the proposal I surfed the best I have ever done so was already on cloud 9. I walked up this hill near our campsite to call my mom to tell her that I successfully surfed and to see the views. Luke saw me up there and knew it was the perfect moment to pop the question. He let his sister Genna know that the moment was happening. Everyone was on the roof of the houseboat unplanned because it's the best spot to be. Everyone got to witness the surprise proposal that no one knew was coming. Luke walked up to join me and brought some pedialyte that I chugged. He pointed at something behind me so I turned my back to him. When I turned around he was on one knee. I was absolutely shook and couldn't talk for a bit but of course said YES! The house boat went WILD! We walked back down to the houseboat and his sister ran out to congratulate us. So happy she was there for this moment all the way from Norway. We joined the others on the roof and popped champagne to celebrate. We told everyone to bring pirate costumes for our last day, but because of the proposal we knew we had to dress up that night. It turned into a Pirate Themed Engagement party and it was amazing. It was the proposal of my dreams and I have never felt so lucky.
