How We Met

August 2005

Salvatore and I met working together at the YMCA Aftercare Program. At first we were just coworkers, neither one of us seemed interested, until one day I approached him stating his mother invited me over for dinner. He replied "what time are you coming over?" not knowing his family didn't sit at a dinner table together or have a dinner time but he went along with my story. I never showed up but later on that night, I got his phone number from a reliable source. I gave him a call and our conversation lead to us meeting up in a parking lot to go get McDonald's together. Then we stayed in the car chatting until the sun came up. Both of us was unsure where this fling would go but I prayed to GOD to lead the way and we took a leap of faith. Here we are today! Still holding strong with five beautiful children who are the center of our joy.

The Proposal

October 2016

Salvatore put a lot of thought into planning my proposal. So much thought that he didn't tell anyone besides his sister. I always thought I would know when my proposal was going to happen because we were together for so long but I had no clue. My son Salvatore (Papi) always spoke about the day his dad would give me a ring. As a matter of fact, moments before my proposal, I took Papi to the restroom and he told me he was giving me a card and asked if I knew what it would say. I replied "No." Papi said I wrote "Daddy I want you to marry my mommy." I laughed but I still didn't think that day would be the day. Once we went back inside, I began opening our baby shower gifts and cards for our third child. I read Papi's card last and while I was reading, Sal was walking up to me and already on one knee by the time I looked up. My eyes were teary but I was trying not to mess up my makeup. I had soooo many mixed emotions but I was excited and I couldn't have been more happier at that moment to see my sons face. I replied YES and rest is history.
