Eric and Kate met through Match.com in the summer of 2017. They talked for a few weeks before meeting in person on August 23rd. By the end of that first date, they knew that this was the start of something amazing. About a month or so later, Eric made it official and in the middle of a Bass Pro Shop, he asked Kate to be his girlfriend.

On New Year's Eve Eric proposed in front of the Christmas tree at his house. He waited until midnight and said, "well it's a new year and a new decade and I want to start it out right." He reached into his pocket, and pulled out a wood-burned heart ornament. On the front it said "will you marry me?" Kate said yes!
