We're getting married!

Sage and I first met through tinder. Ironic that we made it this far I know, but it actually isn't that simple. When I transferred to Texas State I was on a mission to find the most attractive women on campus and try to become friends with all of them, as any college guy would do. However, when I first saw Sage on Instagram I knew there was something about her that stood out. So we followed each other on Instagram, and we would like each other's pictures off and on.. how exciting right? But that was the extent of our relationship. It wasn't until I downloaded tinder and started going through it one day that I saw Sage again and obviously swiped right, how could I not, and to my surprise we matched. " THERE’S HOPE," I thought, and I spent probably the next two weeks trying to come up with an opening line to get her attention. However after sending a message and spending days waiting for a response, it never came. This was in October 2016 and I was haunted by her on a nearly daily basis. Every time I would get on Instagram, there's a new picture, every time I got on Facebook, there it was asking me if I wanted to send her a friend request, which I didn't. One rejection was enough. However, when February 2017 came around, specifically February 27th, I got on tinder again and there she was. She had made a new account. I thought this must be fate right? Or maybe another opportunity to embarrass myself again but either way I had to take the chance. I sent her a message and the next morning, I HAD A RESPONSE. We hit it off immediately, trying to act like two cool cats, which we weren't and talking about dogs and everything under the sun. Soon enough I asked her out our first date and she said YES! We scheduled it for March 7th 2017. Luckily we can now say that the rest is history.

Sage and I like to travel, that's no secret. We've been on numerous adventures together including beach trips to Florida, Port Aransas, and South Padre Island. We've been to Disney, and New York and a whole host of places in-between. So when it came time for us to start planning another trip, I decided to convince Sage to go somewhere with me that's a bit more secluded and romantic. After all this would be our last vacation for a while, and what better way to spend it than with each other? Thus, it was decided we would go to Newport, Rhode Island. Once the trip was booked, I had this idea to propose but I needed to make Sage think the opposite. Well that started months earlier with me telling Sage that I didn't have the money for a ring, although I was looking nightly, and explaining to her that I didn't want to propose on a vacation, and luckily for me she bought it all. Sometimes being gullible does pay off. So, skip forward a few months and its finally time for the trip. I have the ring, and we're driving to Houston to fly out the next morning and let me tell you I AM SWEATING. We get to Houston and I ask her father for permission and luckily he says yes and we’re off thenext morning! We get into Rhode Island and head to the Goat Island Lighthouse where the photographer was going to meet us at 3. Of course Sage is getting hangry, so we stop at the hotel and she grabs a snack before we get to the lighthouse. Unfortunately we get there and the wind was insane! I thought my soon to be fiancée was going to blow away right in front of me! Sage is starting to get annoyed with the wind and 17 degree weather and at one point tells me, lets go! But looking back now I think she's glad we stayed. I see the photographer arrive and its showtime. I walk her back over to the lighthouse, tie my shoe to give the cue and then get on one knee and pop the questions. AND SHE SAID YES! Boy was she so surprised, even though she says she knew the whole time but just look at her face!
