Steamboat is one of our favorite places to ski, and it was also where we took our first trip together in 2021!
We love your children but our wedding will only include guests who are 18 and over. We are happy to help connect you with babysitting resources if you plan to travel with your children.
It depends on how you plan to spend your time in Steamboat! If you stay near the ski resort, you will be within walking distance of our welcome party and will have shuttle transportation to the wedding. Ubers are available in Steamboat, but it can take a while to secure a ride. If you plan to hike or want to explore freely, then you might want a car. There is also a free transit system in Steamboat with routes throughout the day: https://www.steamboatsprings.net/166/Transit
We invite you to break out your western wear and embrace the vibe of Steamboat! Denim, bolo ties, hats, and boots encouraged. If western wear isn’t your thing, no problem. Please come in smart casual. The event will be mostly indoors with a large outdoor area for those wanting to take in the views. If you are looking for a beautiful handcrafted bolo tie or earrings, check out our friend’s brand: www.barebolo.com
Yes, the welcome party will be indoors. There is also a large patio for those who want to to venture outside.
If you are staying at the Steamboat Grand or the Sheraton, you will be a 3-6 minute walk away! Most vacation rentals will also be within walking distance or a very quick drive/bus ride. If you drive, you will have access to free parking! Instructions below: Parking (Free!): Gondola Square Parking Garage (P1) – access code 2255 First, find a parking spot, then go to a parking kiosk. If a kiosk seems broken, try one of the other 3 in the garage follow the above procedure a parking ticket will be automatically issued. A map can be found here: https://www.steamboat.com/plan-your-trip/getting-here-and-around#tab=summer-parking (The parking garage is labeled P1 on the map)
Yes! A buffet dinner will be served with options for any dietary restrictions.
Formal attire: Mid-to-long dresses, jumpsuits, and suits. Our wedding is on a ranch and will be mostly outdoors until the dancing starts (weather permitting). We recommend a block or wedge heel for the grass. It will get chilly in the evening, so please bring a jacket or shawl to stay comfortable. If you also want to add a western twist to your wedding look (bolo tie with a suit, etc.) go for it!
We will provide shuttles to and from the wedding venue. Shuttles will leave at 3:15pm from the Steamboat Grand! This allows for plenty of time for traffic and for guests to get settled before the ceremony. If you will be driving to the Steamboat Grand to catch the shuttles, please follow the instructions below on where to park: There is a free parking lot, the Upper Knoll Lot, at the Steamboat Resort, where wedding guests can park their car for the evening or overnight if needed. This lot is an 8-10 minute walk to the shuttle pick-up location at the Steamboat Grand, so please plan accordingly. The website below does indicate no overnight parking, however we've cleared this with the Steamboat Resort security. You can also pay to park at the Steamboat Square garage. A map can be found here: https://www.steamboat.com/plan-your-trip/getting-here-and-around#tab=summer-parking The Upper Knoll Lot is marked as P3 The wedding venue has very limited parking space, and all cars must receive approval to park at the wedding. The wedding venue will turn all unapproved cars away, so please let us know if you plan to drive to and from the wedding. The shuttles will run on a loop from 9:00pm-11:45pm to take guests back to the Steamboat Grand.
Unfortunately, Ruott County is in a Stage 2 fire ban which means smoking anything with a flame at our wedding will not be permitted. Guests over 21 are welcome to bring and use cannabis vaporizer (vape) pens! There will not be a designated area- just use discretion and be respectful of those around you. Please note that if you are caught smoking anything with a flame, you will be asked to leave the venue. Let's all do our part to protect against forest fires!
There is no official after-party. You can expect the music to get a bit more rowdy after 10:30pm, and our reception will officially end at 11:45pm so that all guests can be off the property by midnight.
Steamboat averages in September are highs in the low 70s and lows in the mid-30s. However, Colorado weather can be very unpredictable! Make sure to bring layers and check the forecast before you come.
Although Steamboat is lower than most of the mountain towns in Colorado, the elevation is close to 7,000 feet above sea level. Make sure to drink lots of water (even before you arrive) and wear sunscreen. Also, remember that drinking alcohol at altitude can have much stronger effects. Take it easy on your first day and make sure to rest!
