We grew up just a street apart, running through the same neighborhood, hiding in the same trees and bushes when our parents called us in for dinner, and playing manhunt like it was our full-time job. Matt was the local paperboy — the cutest paperboy, if you ask Emily... and every week he dutifully delivered the news to her house and her grandmother’s. Little did he know he was also delivering a lifetime subscription to love (it just took a couple decades to process). Emily and her friends always had a soft spot for the neighborhood paperboy, but life took us in different directions for a while. We went off to college, started our careers, and eventually both found ourselves back in our hometown...apparently unable to escape either the zip code or each other. We kept bumping into one another on construction job sites with Matt directing traffic as a police detail officer and Emily running the show as a construction manager. Let’s just say the “work zone” signs took on a whole new meaning. We’d chat through the whole shift, and suddenly, work didn’t feel so much like… work. Then, on July 4th, 2023, fate (and our friends Mike and Gabby) finally decided to make things official. We were both invited (separately) onto their boat. We showed up at the Ipswich wharf, spotted each other, and started walking toward the same boat. Cue the fireworks (literally). From that day on, we’ve been inseparable. And now after years of near misses, neighborhood games, and one very fateful boat day...the paperboy is finally delivering happily ever after.
