It was a regular Sunday morning where I was meeting my friends at church. When I pulled up to the parking lot I was directed to an open spot. I was immediately distracted by the man who parked me. I’m not sure if it was his ocean blue eyes, his welcoming and contagious smile or how good he was looking in that neon safety vest while directing people into church that morning. Immediately I ran inside to ask my friend if she knew who he was. As all women do in a time like this…my friend played detective and did her research. In no time I was stalking his Facebook where I learned that he was a hiking enthusiast and a….peanut butter lover. The Lord had to forgive me because boy was I judging. Without even giving him a chance I let time go on without wanting to pursue it any further. Then one day at church, a mutual friend insisted on us meeting. We were introduced and began having small talk amongst the group I was with. Our phone numbers were exchanged, he asked me out to brunch and our first date commenced 2 weeks later lasting 8 hours long. The dates only got better from there and somehow lasted just as long if not longer every time. God humbled me and taught me to not judge a (face) book by its (profile) cover. Today I am….supportive of how enthusiastic Casey is for hiking and most definitely, with no shame, a peanut butter lover as well…but he would say not nearly as much as him. Somehow for every Sunday I attended church that year I had never saw Casey. Somehow for every Sunday Casey had served in the parking lot that year at church he had never seen me. We were blinded until God was ready for us to meet. God’s timing is always right.
